The first step in assembling kits is to identify all of the parts. I received my $350 kit last week and since no list was available I took the initiative. www.dropbox.com/s/qp0b1iai229y2ng/Pi%20MakerParts.docxPlease excuse the bad pictures, mixed units and any notes still in the file. I think that my kit is missing parts but anyone has a more complete kit please feel free to add to the file. Also does anyone know which cupcake parts are needed to complete the bot. The next step is in building the kit is to break the parts in to sub assemblies and then grouping them together. Again if anyone wants to contribute feel free.

What KOP (kit of parts) do you have and does it apply to building a Ultra-Bot or upgrading a Cupcake?

Sorry I need to be more specific.
I received the $350 Pi Maker cupcake upgrade kit and the docx I posted is just a list of the components I received with the kit with a brief description and picture to help everyone identify each part. I would have included a list of parts from the cupcake but I don't know which parts that the PiMaker will use. I have modified the docx to reflect the kit I am using. If you have different kit please create a new section and include a list of your parts as well. Feel free to use my images were applicable.
Currently I am waiting on Mr. Steele to replace the broken and missing parts from the kit but I will try to make progress in the meantime. The next step will be to identify which parts are in each assembly of the machine. IE the case, z,r, θ axises. Any high resolution photos of a completed machine would be extremely helpful.

It's sad you received broken and missing parts but it is the SOP for Mr. Steele. I suggest you make any and all complaints on the kickstarter comments as well as his twitter and email. The only thing that seems to motivate Mr. Steele is public scrutiny.

I contacted him on June 10 using the kickstarter messaging system to replace the first broken part, the small back bit (pictured in my document) which he promised that he would replace and send me "some nice enhancements that'll allow you to have a gantry that moves all the way across."
When I generated this list I discovered that the fan was defective due to a lifted pad and one part which seems to be a bad cut. These two problems have not been sent to him yet but I assume that he can replace these parts as well. I also expected that at my funding level I would receive a set of print board electronics which I did not receive.
From my communications with him have found him to be responsive and willing to help if a little slow to ship. I think that we will be able work together to get the remaining parts and get my bot printing.

I'm glad he is responding quickly to your emails. I hope it works out for you.

Hey guys, I know the design has evolved since these photos were taken (specifically, I think the side panels and the gantry may be different now), but I'll post some of the shots from the Knoxville build party in case they help get you started. I know Bill is working on the actual assembly videos which show you how to actually connect all the bits, but maybe these shots will help until those videos are ready. Michael - there wasn't an easy way to comment on your parts list (I don't use Office on my Mac, so can't edit the docx easily), but I added two photos called Parts-A and Parts-B that have labels on some of the parts I had at the build party. Some of yours are from the newer design, so I don't know where they'd go - you'll need Bill for those, but maybe 75% of your parts are the same as the ones we used. Hopefully those images will help you label your kit parts list. www.dropbox.com/sh/2e3azspck66pugi/uDac5K_7Yy/PiMaker- Adam

I have updated my instructions (see the doc at the start of the thread) to include assembly of most of the bots large parts but I have reached the end of what I can do until at this point. I am still waiting for Will to send me:
A list of parts to salvage from the cupcakeCNC Replacement 40 mm fan Replacement Bottom Back part The upgraded carriage parts “a new set of Printrboard electronics to drive it all.” $5 for the nuts I had to buy from the hardware store which were not included in my kit.

I made some progress in constructing the Z Axis. I have succeed in constructing both versions of the Z axis cars. I have updated my build instruction to include instructions for the version of the Z axis that uses the rails present on the tower assembly.

OK - made it through that part successfully! Only a few parts left at this point.
